Ashley Corral enters her first season at USC.
NATIONAL TEAMS
A member of the U.S. Under-18 National Team, Corral was Team USA's starting guard at the 2008 FIBA Americas Championships in Argentina... Won gold at the tournament, and averaged 8.8 points, 3.2 assists and 2.0 steals per game in the USA's five games... A member of the 2007 USA Basketball Under-18 Olympic Junior Development Team.
HIGH SCHOOL
Corral was a 2008 McDonald's All-American and Gatorade Washington Player of the Year out of Prairie High in Vancouver, Wash... Won Powerade Jam Fest Three-Point Shootout Championship, beating fellow USC newcomer Briana Gilbreath. Corral had led eight first-round participants with 16 points on the way to the Jam Fest Three-Point Shootout Championship... Averaged 19.0 points, 5.0 assists, 4.2 rebounds and 3.0 steals as a senior, finishing prep career with 1585 points, 392 rebounds, 596 assists and 305 steals... Set girls state tournament records for points (247), 3-pointers (32) and steals (42) in a career, and most 3-pointers in one tournament this season with 13... Named Washington State Tournament MVP... Three-time Regional Player of the Year and two-time league MVP... Selected to PARADE's Fourth Team All-American list and named Second Team All-America by EA Sports... Also named 2007-08 Gatorade Washington Girls Basketball Player of the Year and State Player of the Year by the Seattle Times...2006 and 2007 Regional Player of the Year... 2007 league MVP... 2006 Washington State 4A All-Tournament First Team... Also played three years of varsity soccer and one of softball... An all-state selection in soccer.
PERSONAL
Ashley Samantha Corral was born March 4, 1990 in Apple Valley, Calif... The daughter of Art and Hala, has two sisters, Allison and Heather... Says her 6-year-old sister is her biggest hero... Has always wanted to skydive and travel to Spain and Hawaii... Would like to play professionally and go to law school after graduation... Has not decided on a major.
