LOS ANGELES--Shaun Dyk had 24 kills to lead Cal Baptist, the NAIA's top-ranked team, to a 32-30, 29-31, 30-26, 24-30, 20-18 home non-conference win over USC on Tuesday (Feb. 25).
Cal Baptist, which is 3-3 all-time against the Trojans, improved to 9-3 on the year, while USC lost its sixth consecutive match to fall to 3-12.
Phil Peterson had 26 kills and 13 blocks for USC, while teammate Josh Day added 12 kills (hitting .429) and 7 blocks.
For Cal Baptist, Miguel Monterola added 12 kills and Ivan Topchiysky had 11 kills.
USC next hosts No. 3-ranked BYU in Mountain Pacific Sports Federation action this Friday (Feb. 28) and Saturday (March 1). Both matches start at 7 p.m. in the Lyon Center.
