For the second night in a row, the No. 2-ranked BYU men's volleyball team swept No. 10 USC, this time 30-22, 30-25, 30-22, in a Mountain Pacific Sports Federation match on Saturday (April 12) in Provo to conclude the regular season.
The Cougars improved to 23-4 overall and 18-4 for a first place tie in the MPSF (but they'll enter the upcoming MPSF tourney as the No. 2 seed behind top-seeded Long Beach State). USC's record fell to 13-15 and 10-12, and the Trojans will be the eighth and final seed in the MPSF tourney, facing UC Irvine on the road on Wednesday (April 15) at 7 p.m. in the play-in match. The winner of that play-in match then must face BYU on April 19.
BYU hit .255 in the match to USC's meager .024. Jonathan Charette had a match-best 14 kills for the Cougars, with 5 blocks.
Juan Figueroa led the Trojans with 10 kills and 6 blocks.
