U.S. Olympic Trials Results

Former USC All-American and 2004 Olympian Gabe Woodward (100-meter freestyle) and incoming freshman Tanya Krisman (200-meter butterfly) both earned trips into the final of their respective events to highlight the Trojan action at the 2008 U.S. Olympic Trials at the Qwest Center in Omaha, Neb., on Wednesday (July 2).

Woodward finished eighth in the 100m free in 48.85 to squeeze into Thursday night's final. While the top two finishers qualify to swim the event in Beijing while the top six qualify as relay participants. That is how Woodward made the squad in 2004 as well.

Krisman, meanwhile, qualified for the 200m fly with the fifth fastest time in the semifinals, a 2:08.97. She is seeking to earn her first Olympic bid.

Krisman's 2009 freshman teammate-to-be Courtney Kalisz also made the semifinals of the 200m fly, finishing 11th in 2:10.95.

Former Trojan Klete Keller, who made the Olympic squad as a relay participant in the 200m free, was 21st in the 100m free (49.67).

USC sophomore Dillon Connolly was 47th in the 200m breast (2:20.20) while fellow sophomore Buddy Turner was 61st in the 100m free (50.79). Recent grad Bryce Elser, a 2008 co-captain, was 68th in the 100m free (50.95).

Former Trojan and Olympic medalist Kaitlin Sandeno was eighth in the 200m IM (2:15.87).

On Tuesday, USC senior co-captain Katy Houston was 30th in the 200m IM (2:18.19) while former Trojan Erik Tolmachoff was 46th in the 200m fly (2:02.44).

In addition to Krisman's 200m fly final and Woodward's 100m free final, Trojan eyes will return to senior Rebecca Soni, the top seed in the 200m breast. She barely missed earning a spot on the U.S. team in the 100m breast on Tuesday. Soni will compete in the prelims and semifinals tomorrow.
