THIS SEASON: Chris Coble, a 2004 redshirt junior, returns to the Trojans after a year off recovering from shoulder surgery. Solid in the fly and IM, Coble hopes to resume his role as a point-scorer at the conference meet.
2003: Coble did not compete as a 2003 junior because of season-ending shoulder surgery.
2002: Coble, as a 2002 sophomore, reached the consolation finals twice at the 2002 Pac-10s, taking 13th in the 200y fly (1:49.51) and 14th in the 400y IM (3:55.39). He also finished 20th in the 200y IM (1:52.86). The 200y fly and 400y IM times were season bests, as was his prelim time of 1:52.17 in the 200y IM (fifth-best on the team for the year) … Competed in the 400m IM and the 200m fly at the 2002 U.S. Summer Nationals.
2001: Coble chiefly swam the medley and back events for the Trojans as a 2001 freshman … His exhibition swim at the 2001 Pacific-10 Conference Championships of 1:49.00 was his first national standard cut.
HIGH SCHOOL: Coble prepped at Bellarmine Prep where he was a four-time prep All-American ... He was a Scholastic All-American as a senior in 2000 and earned All-CIF honors all four years in high school ... He captained his club team, Mission San Jose, for three years. He was a junior national qualifier in the backstroke, butterfly and IM.
PERSONAL: His birthday is Oct. 24, 1982 ... He is a corporate finance major … Nicknamed “Dr. All” by his teammates.
