LOS ANGELES -- Geoff Jenkins (Milwaukee Brewers) was voted in today by fans to be the 32nd member of the National League roster that will play in the 2003 All-Star Game on Tuesday (July 15) in Chicago. Jenkins was one of five finalists for the spot and was the winner of the etopps All-Star Final Vote.

This will be Jenkins' first All-Star appearance. Jenkins played for USC from 1993-95, batting .369 (251-for-681) in his career with 45 home runs and 175 RBI. He earned 1995 All-America first team honors after batting .399 with 23 home runs and 78 RBI in helping the Trojans reach the College World Series.

With the addition of Jenkins, an unprecedented five former Trojans will be playing in the All-Star Game. Bret Boone (Seattle Mariners) and Barry Zito (Oakland Athletics) will represent the American League while Jenkins, Aaron Boone (Cincinnati Reds), Mark Prior (Chicago Cubs) will represent the National League.

The previous school record for most All-Stars was four set in 1979: Steve Kemp, Dave Kingman, Fred Lynn and Roy Smalley. USC now claims 63 overall All-Star selections and 10 who have played for current USC head coach Mike Gillespie (Bret Boone 3, Jeff Cirillo 2, Barry Zito 2, Aaron Boone, Geoff Jenkins and Mark Prior).
